The Equinox Terrapin Ultralite Poncho/Shelter with Extension adds an additional 14" inches of length vs. it's companion, the Terrapin Ultralite Poncho/Shelter. It provides addtional material to securely cover your backpack as you're trekking, or increase the size of your shelter. This excess fabric can be snapped away when not in use. The silicone impregnated ripstop nylon is extremely waterproof and lightweight, so you can keep your pack dry without adding a lot of weight to it. It feaures a larger cut than most ponchos to keep your knees and legs dry as well. A hood designed to allow peripheral vision cinches closed with a drawstring cord lock, keeping your head dry. The larger size also helps make this poncho more versatile. To easily convert the poncho to a shelter, the four corners have durable nylon loops to use as tie downs. It's the best

This "Equinox Terrapin Ultralite Poncho/Shelter W/Ext" is the best I've found. It's pricey, yes, and the fabric seems too thin and lightweight to be waterproof. But you get what you pay for, and I turned my shower on full force and got under it wearing this poncho--not a drop of water got through the fabric. It comes with a drawstring bag and guess what? You can easily stuff it back in the bag. The stuffed bag is about the physical size of a child's boxing glove. Mine tips the scales at 8.1 oz bag and all.

Product is not what I ordered

Product I received did not match what I ordered. Quality of item was poor with the fasteners missing on the left side of the item. I would expect the cost of what I received to be less than $5 and not the $40 I paid for. I would not recommend any further purchases from this vendor.
