Durable, light, easy to set up
By iFly
My wife and I purchased this tent as a lightweight but durable piece of gear for occasional flying/camping trips. On our first trip, the tent was subjected to a 60+mph gale, and survived with only minor bending of the poles. Tents all around were shredded and soaked. Ours was dry and in one piece. Also, the tent is easy to set up and well-designed. I highly recommend the matching footprint, as it easily fits in the stuff sack with the rest of the tent, and does its job perfectly.

Great lightweight tent but I'd like to see some minor improvements
By reviewkoenig
This is my first tent that I own that costs more than $50. I went for this tent for several reasons, it is a lightweight tent, it has more head room than most other tents in its size, it has a porch on both entrances and it should be 100% waterproof. I haven't used it in the rain yet but the way it is setup I think it is an excellent tent for rainy days. The rainfly covers the entire tent. If you stake out the sides none of the water will touch the actual tent which is great and it should keep you dry.I absolutely love the aluminum tent poles, they are lightweight and in my opinion of superb quality. Compared to fiberglass tent poles it is a difference like night and dayWhat I don't like so much is that the tent floor is kind of thin (problem of most lightweight tents). It will be fine on grass but most of the time when I pitch a tent it is on forest grounds with little rocks and sticks. I already bought a tarp that I will cut to the size of the tent including the two porches. The tent stakes that are included are lightweight but I can easily bend them, I already bought some Coghlan's 1000 4-Count 9-Inch Ultralight Tent Stakes. 4 for $3 at WalMart, can't beat that. If they will fail me I will invest in MSR GroundHog Tent Stakes. It would be great if the tent had the pockets on the same size, if you share the tent with someone one lucky person gets a pocket next to his head, the other camper has a pocket by the feet. Usually not big of a deal but since the overhead gear loft sucks it kind of matters to me. The overhead gear loft you have to hand tie, no hooks or clips. Once it is tied it doesn't seem to work well. I eventually have to put more weight in it because my keys kept sliding out. And the ties are so long they hang in your face, need to cut them shorter. I will try using the gear loft from the old cheapo tent with this one.Overall I really like the tent. I feel confident that it will last a long time, everything seems to be of good quality and it looks nice too with the green rainfly. I almost bought the Eureka Scenic Pass 3XT but I didn't like the white color and when Amazon ran a special on this tent I had to buy it. I'm 6'3 and I have lots of room in it with my girlfriend and our gear. 3 people would only fit comfortably if they are 5ft. Keep on camping!

kelty trail ridge 3 tent
By philipd
Just got this tent today and man is it a beauty. Compared to my previous tent that I bought from big 5 it is like moving from a shed to a 4 star hotel. I was having doubts wether to buy this or not because of how much is costed the dimensions difference compared to other tents for cheaper.(why not buy something that is more bigger and spacious for lower the cost right?) But now I know why this tent costed the amount it did. The frabric and material this tent is made from is worth the cost. This is a quality product. At first I wanted something with more height in it, and all the low cost tent I have looked at was above 50-60inches tall. But I thought to myself why would I need something so high when I would be sitting and laying in the majority of the time. So I decided to give the Kelty trail ridge 3 a try and if I didn't like it I can just return it. This tent is roomier than I thought, maybe I should have gotten the the one that fits for 2. I set it up in my living room and it was satisfying to picture myself in it nextweek when I go camping. Basically what I was looking for was something with a mesh roof so I can look at the stars at night and good ventilation and of course spacious interior. This tent could probably 5 people in it, without their gears of course. This have exceeded my expectations hopefully when I go camping next week everything will workout perfectly. Great addition to my outdoor gear and definitely worth the money. I will update this review as soon as I come back from camping.Update:Should have update this sooner, but I forgot that I said I was going to do an update review after camp. Had a blast at camping, enjoyed every last minute of it. This tent is amazing. It is like having the mercedes benz of all tents lol... everyone was checking out how awesome it was! Gota love the attention. This thing is just so well built, from the fabric to the tent polls man its nice. So nice I dont even keep it in the garage lol. But thats just me, paying that much money for a tent you better take good care of it right? Can't wait to go camping again!
