Product Description
Big enough for your entire family and then some, the Yahi Annex 6 + 2 is the perfect base camp option. A 75D Polyester fly keeps the elements out and steep mesh walls keep you well ventilated. A long floor space and large vestibule mean you can sleep stretched out comfortably and store your gear conveniently. *Removable room divider allows for privacy or can be taken down for a more community feel. *Stash Door has a continuous zipper that allows the door to open fully at any point and easily stashes into an internal pocket to stay clean, dry, and accessible. *Superseal Floor(tm) combines benefits of catenary and bathtub floors. Raised, taped perimeter seam provides guaranteed waterproofness and maintains a tighter pitch with a better wind line to prevent flapping. *Color-coded main door. *PVC-free seam tape. *Reflective door trim and guy outs. *Hanging pockets. *Sew-free windows. *Vents on vestibule. *Continuous pole sleeves for easy setup. *Jake's Foot(tm) Attachment is strong, light, and is the answer to frustrating tent set up. Fantastic family tent
By Sometimes Over Analyzer
Overall:If you're looking for a solid waterproof tent for your family with plenty of features and space, this is the one for you. It's also much improved over previous versions (Bedouin & WuHu Annex). It has a high price-tag and the floor could be thicker for a family tent, but overall, this is one of the best large tents money can buy.Pros:* High-quality materials* Easy setup* Versatile floor space w/ room divider* Tall enough to stand anywhere in tent* Virtually waterproof out of the boxCons:* Expensive* No shade to cover windows* Floor should be higher denier fabric like other similarly priced tentsDetails:Like many readers of online reviews, I wanted to make sure my decision to spend $500+ on a tent was the "right" one. I was looking for a quality tent with enough room for my wife and I plus 2 kids and a small dog. The cheaper manufacturers have plenty of large family tents, but they are just that... cheap. If you're like me and lean toward a higher-quality product, your options are drastically reduced.I was looking for a tent with a full-coverage rainfly, easy setup, taped seams, and DAC poles. After lots of searching, it came down to these three: the Marmot Capstone 6, North Face Mountain Manor 8, and Sierra Designs Yahi Annex 6+2; All of them with 120-125 sq ft of floor space and top of the line materials/design.I decided on the Yahi Annex 6+2 for a variety of reasons. I've owned and liked Sierra Designs tents before and they make top-notch tents. I've also owned tents made by Wenzel, Coleman, Eureka, Slumberjack, Guide Gear, REI, and Marmot. Of those I'd only buy from REI or Marmot again. The Yahi Annex has a fantastic pole design that allows for maximum headroom throughout the tent and near-vertical walls. You can stand in almost every square inch and there are no awkward angles. It also has a longer floor than the other two tents and we liked that because you can split the room in two with the included removable divider (the divider for the Bedouin & WuHu Annex are not removable). The Capstone and Mtn Manor also have dividers, but I liked the rectangular floor shape of the Yahi Annex better for splitting us from the kids.Setup was a breeze with the Jake's Foot attachments and color-coded poles and rainfly. It only took a few minutes. This tent is fantastic inside. The all-mesh upper make it seem more like an open-roof screen room than a tent. With the fly on, the tent feels very secure and private, except for the fact that the small windows do not have the option to be covered. My only wish is that the floor were thicker than 70Denier fabric. The Marmot and North Face are both 150D or higher. I owned two tents with the same 70D floor in the past and had no issues, so it may not be a big deal in the end. The vestibule is big enough for some gear, cooler, etc but not extremely spacious. Takedown was a snap and everything fit in the included duffel easily.

Brilliant base camp or family tent
By Collin Keeney
I bought this tent and had it brought to me in the Middle East because I didn't like any of the tents I could find here in Dubai. Also, because I've had a Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight 3 tent for over 20 years, and know what good service the materials and design are, how easy to set up the tents are, and how excellent their customer service is. They have not disappointed with this one. After trying a big, cheap mega cabin tent that flapped in the wind all night and took over a half hour to set up, I was desperate for something that would go up fast, stay quiet, and have good ventilation. I had the YA up in about 10- 15 minutes for the main structure in the first try- could have done it faster if I didn't had it properly oriented for the wind the first time (oblong shape benefits being faced with the wind). Bought and used the footprint which clips nicely into the tent's special jake'sfoot clips, as well. Took about another 5 minutes to get the fly up when I turned my attention to that, and thank god- no belaying or extra guy-lines required. Just 4 more stakes. For the record, I bought the MSR cyclone stakes because I camp in the desert sand where it can be quite windy. So, I cannot speak for the included stakes. The MSR ones are as good as tying the tent to the core of the earth- totally unmoving, so I'd recommend those if you ever go on the sand. The inside of the tent is very big indeed. I am 6'6" and can stand up straight in the annex part (the 2 person room if you have the divider up). I can stand up pretty much all the way in the rest of the tent, too. We bought a light, foldable carpet to throw on the floor of the main area which made it super cozy and comfy. The main area basically has a rectangular footprint, so we comfortably had 2 adult cots next to each ther lengthwise, and used the annex part for our 2 year old who goes to bed early. I could see being able to fit 6 normal size people or kids into the main area. It would be tight. I like a bit more space, so we found it to be great for ur family of 3 and our dog and stuff. Car camping anyway... All in all, I am delighted with it. Major plusses were how easy it was to set up, how solid and tight it was assembled (no flapping).
